Lesson 2-5 #11

Lesson 2: In this lesson, I learned how to select certain parts of a picture. There are four different ways to do this. You can use the marquee tool, the lasso tool, the magic wand tool, and you can use the select menu. There is also another way to do this. You can also use the pen tool to do this, which is what I personally like to use.

Lesson 3: In this lesson, I learned how to color, draw, and erase on an image. To do this you can use various tools. I can use a paint brush tool to paint or draw on the picture. Or, if I want to color a larger area I can use the paint bucket tool. I can edit the color of the whole picture by playing with the hue/saturation of the picture. I can also invert the colors of the image. To erase parts of the image, I can select the eraser tool, erase the areas that I want to.

Lesson 4: In this lesson, I learned how to edit a picture. I can rotate the picture I can crop it, add filters, etc. I also learned how to combine two pictures together in a way that they look as if they are one picture. To do this you just have to outline the object that you want to place on the background and place it on there.

Lesson 5: In this lesson, I learned how to touch up a image. I learned how to take something out of the background if I don't want it to be there. Like, if there was "photo bombers" in the background of my pictures, I could easily remove them from the background without damaging my picture.

Selective Color #13

The picture above is my selective color image. I chose to use a picture of Snow White because I have always loved Disney princesses. I always loved the movie Snow White and I thought that it would be neat idea to use a picture of her holding the apple. I made the apple, her hair bow, and her lips in color. I thought that making all of these things in color would look more creative than just having the apple in color. I enjoyed this project, because I have always wanted to know how to do this to a picture. I have seen these pictures and always wanted to try it but I didn't know how. I was very pleased with how my picture turned out. I thought that it was a great way to show splashes of colors in the picture.

Light Writing/Long Exposure #11

When I did my light writing/long exposure project, Ms.Snyder helped me by taking my pictures for me. I decided to do this kind of picture because I thought it would look creative and different from everyone else's. I thought that it would look interesting if I made it look like I was holding something and all of these weird light beams were coming up all around it. To accomplish this I took two pictures.  The first picture that was taken was my silhouette and looked like I was holding rainbow light in my hands.  The second picture taken was where I took two different colored lights and swirled them around to make it look like weird light swirling around. I took both of these pictures and layered them together on photo shop.  I outlined ,y silhouette with pink and then I was finished.  I was very pleased with my results and it turned out exactly how I wanted it to.

I chose these three pictures as my favorites because each of them have a unique look to them that I found very appealing.  Picture number one was my one of my favorites because it was very cool looking.  It is so simple, yet so unique.  Even though it was just a picture of a chair I thought that it had a very creative angle on it.  The second picture was one of my favorites because it was closer up to the chair.  It shows flaws in the chair that can also be beautiful.  It shows how the rope is fraying which makes it appeal as if it has been worn out.  That gives the picture a vintage look and feel.  The third one was one of my favorite ones because the chair is laying in an odd position.  It shows how something so simple, can be turned around, or positioned a different way and change the whole look of the photo.  I enjoyed this project because I love taking pictures of things and positioning things different ways to find out which one looks the best.  I think this could have been better though, if we could have used more items within our fifty photos that we had to take!!

Cartoon Yourself #7

1.) This portrait is an image of me.

2.) My challenges were trying to get the colors to match my face.  It was very hard and still didn't turn out like I wanted it too.  Also, it was hard to draw my eyes and facial features.

3.) I did not like the way mine turned out at all.  I thought it could have looked a lot better.  I wish it would have looked more like me.  In my opinion this doesn't look like me at all.

Levitation #8

1.) First I found a background that I liked and wanted to use.

2.) I set up a stool and the props that I wanted to use for my picture.

3.) My lighting was close to being the same.  It was a little bit off but I fixed it to where it wasn't noticeable in my picture. 

4.) Mary Poppins was my inspiration because she always has an umbrella and is using it to fly everywhere.  I have always loved that movie ever since I was little, so why not try to make myself look like I'm flying like her.

1. A pictorial is international style added to a picture.

2. Photoshop is an image manipulating program.

I used diffuse.

4. I like the final result because I thought that this filter looked really cool.  It made me look kind of blurry in a sandy looking way.

Photogram #4

A photogram is a picture produced with photographic materials, such as light-sensitive paper, but without a camera. I used my car key, my box of pins, my high school ring, and a thimble.  I chose these objects because they represent me in a way.  I like to go places so that's why I out my car key.  I am in high school and I wear my high school ring every day, so that's why I chose to put that on there.  I chose to put my box of pins on there and a thimble because I enjoy sewing and for the most part I do that everyday.  I liked the final result. I thought it looked pretty cool.  I think it looked better in negative than positive because it made my key look white.

Camera Obscura #2

 A camera obscura is a darkened box with a convex lens or aperture for projecting the image of an external object onto a screen inside. It is important historically in the development of photography.  I made my camera obscura by taping two cups together and poking a hole in it.  Then I painted it.  It didn't look the best but it works. The first time I looked through my camera I seen trees that were upside down.  But it was kinda hard to see through it because it was so dark and the hole was so small.  I think they are kind of interesting because it made the trees appear to be upside down even though I was looking straight at it.

Cliche Verre #3

A cliche verre is a combination of art and photography. In brief, it is a method of either etching, painting or drawing on a transparent surface, such as glass, thin paper or film and printing the resulting image on a light sensitive paper in a photographic darkroom. These pictures are my cliche verre pictures.  In this project we had to find a picture on the internet and place a piece of plastic over it and paint.  We were supposed to have white, black, and gray on our photo.  Mine turned out pretty well I think.  I chose a flower and I painted the different parts of it black, and painted some of it lighter so it would show up lighter(gray).  To make it more creative I monogrammed my initials on it also.  I tried to add some brush strokes to the petals also.  I think I enjoyed doing this one the most because I love to paint and I think it is awesome how this could come out like this from a light and paint on a piece of plastic.  When I first made it, it came out to plain so I added different aspects to it.  Then when I did it again it came out good, and then I made it positive and it also turned out great.

Pinhole Camera (inside) #5

A pin hole camera is a camera with a pinhole aperture and no lens. The pictures that I did with the pinhole camera came out better than I expected.  We got a pinhole camera and placed it somewhere in the classroom.  I placed mine in front of the mirror to see what it would capture.  We left the camera there for an hour or for some of us, until the end of class.  The then took the camera into the dark room and began the process of developing our pictures.  When I took mine in the dark room and began developing it, it began to show up and turned put great.  After I observed how the pictures came out in negative, I began the process of making it positive.  Then, I was amazed at how the picture could turn out so great considering the picture came from the inside of a tin can.  I enjoyed doing this project and it was very interesting and awesome.

Pinhole Camera (outside) #5

A pinhole camera is a camera with a pinhole aperture and no lens. When I made these photographs, we went outside with our pinhole cameras and took photographs.  We had to stand in our pose for a few seconds to make sure we took the picture.  After we did this we went inside and went in the dark room to develop our photos.  When we went in the dark room we opened our cans and took out the photo paper and began the process of developing our photos.  When mine was finished I was very pleased with how it turned out.  First it was a negative photograph like shown in my picture.  Then I went back again and made the picture positive with the other process that we do.  This one turned out well also, it looks like a black and white picture.  I enjoyed doing this because I think it is neat how a can with a hole in it can take my picture and actually work.  I would love to do something like this again.

1.)  A 6 word memoir is 6 words that describe your personality.

2.) I chose these words because I think that it is very important to always be yourself regardless of where you are or who you are around. When someone is themselves around you or wherever they are, you know that they are a genuine person.

3.) I do like the way that it turned out because the sentence that I chose is the kind of person that I am. I am always myself no matter where I am. Also, I love this picture of me.
